Lucas Perri has every right to fume as James Trafford to Leeds United surely realistic

Lucas Perri has arguably guaranteed his place in the starting lineup as Leeds United face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has struggled at the Whites since his move from Olympique Lyon last summer, subsequently losing his number one title.

Daniel Farke decided to give the 28-year-old an opportunity against Birmingham City in the FA Cup fourth round on 15 February, and he came out with flying colours.

Perri pulled off some impressive saves throughout the West Yorkshire outfit’s win at St Andrew’s, including one in the penalty shootout, making a claim for himself after dropping down the pecking order.

Leeds United in race for James Trafford loan from Manchester City

Manchester City are willing to let Leeds target James Trafford leave in the summer, but only on loan.

The Sky Blues still have faith in the 23-year-old and don’t plan on selling him permanently at the end of the season after playing second fiddle to Gianluigi Donnarumma this season.

Having returned to the Etihad Stadium last summer from Burnley, the Englishman has seen game time hard to come by after the Italy international’s arrival from Paris Saint-Germain.

With figures of over £30million being mentioned when it comes to Trafford’s price tag, the Elland Road hierarchy will surely feel they have a more realistic opportunity now to get him on loan.

The English shot-stopper’s main priority will undoubtedly be going to a team where minutes will be guaranteed, and the West Yorkshire outfit can certainly provide that.

If Trafford does sign for the Peacocks, that would leave Perri’s future uncertain, and the Brazil national will surely have every right to fume if he can continue his current form and still possibly gets replaced.

Daniel Farke has goalkeeper priority after Elland Road development

Farke has relied on Karl Darlow as his number one in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen how long that will last.

The Wales international came into the starting lineup last season following a similar situation with Illan Meslier, who made some serious blunders for Leeds in the Championship.

As things stand, the ex-Lorient star’s contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the campaign, with Darlow and Alex Cairns in the same boat.

Some shakeup in the West Yorkshire outfit’s goalkeeping department is certainly expected in the summer, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
