Luca Thomas surely facing Leeds United sale after announcement today
Leeds United youngster Luca Thomas will return to Elland Road in January with his future at the club looking bleak.
Leeds announced on Tuesday that the forward had extended his loan spell at National League side York City until January and, with his contract at Elland Road set to expire in the summer, it is hard to see a scenario in which he earns a new one.
The Whites will have a decision to make in January in regard to his future.
Luca Thomas future at Leeds United looks bleak
While loan spells certainly have their advantages for young players, Thomas playing in the National League will do little for his development, especially at 20 years old.
With how fast football moves nowadays, players have to make an impact at an early age to have a chance of impressing on the senior stage and Thomas is yet to do that.
While his performances for York have been good, the forward has scored just once and it seems unlikely for him to break into the first-team picture at Leeds under Daniel Farke.

With several talented forwards, some of which are the same age, Thomas will have to excel massively at York to receive any chances of having his deal extended again after it was renewed in the previous summer.
The Whites may attempt to offload the youngster in January in hopes of getting some form of monetary return from his departure which, at this stage, seems inevitable.
