Leeds won’t be taking Birmingham City lightly as Daniel Farke faces St Andrew’s test

Leeds take a break from Premier League action this Sunday, as they travel to the Midlands to take on Birmingham City in the FA Cup.

Daniel Farke‘s side come into the game in good form in the Premier League, having taken a point from Stamford Bridge in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea last time out.

Leeds have also lost just once in their last six in all competitions, and took care of Championship outfit Derby County 3-1 at Pride Park in the third round on 11 January.

It’s another date with a second tier side this Sunday too, as the Whites face a clash with play-off-chasing Birmingham at St Andrew’s, it’s not going to be an easy afternoon for Leeds.

Birmingham City boast superb St Andrew’s record this season

St Andrew’s is one of the toughest places to go for opposing Championship teams in 2025-26, with the loyal Blues supporters routinely making it a cauldron of noise.

Chris Andrew’s side currently sit 10th in the second tier table, but crucially, are just one point below sixth-placed Wrexham on 47.

As such, their dream of completing back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League in two years is very much still alive, and this ambitious football club look destined to reach the top flight sooner rather than later.

Brum are in good form at the moment too, as they are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions, and have lost just once in the calendar year of 2026 so far.

However, their real strength this term has been their home form, as Davies’ side have won 31 of their 46 Championship points at St Andrew’s – the destination for Leeds this Sunday.

Indeed, they’ve tasted defeat there just once this season, winning eight and drawing seven of their 16 games on home turf so far.

This isn’t going to be a stroll in the park for Leeds, not by a longshot.

Leeds could take advantage of slight St Andrew’s wobble

But, as good as Birmingham have been at St Andrew’s this season, they are in the midst of a few frustrating results on home soil.

Brum were held to a 0-0 draw at home to West Brom last time out, and saw a 95th-minute winner ruled out for offside.

They were able to scrape past 10-men Leicester with a 2-1 win in the game before that, but Stoke City also came to St Andrew’s and left with a point on 24 January.

So, it’s going to be tough, but Leeds could be playing Birmingham on their own patch at just the right time.
