Leeds United will struggle to keep hold of Crysencio Summerville in January

Crysencio Summerville has stepped up and proved he is the star at Elland Road this season, but Leeds United may struggle to keep hold of him when the transfer window rolls around.

The Football League Paper reported on 29 October that Premier League sides were put off of a move for the winger in the summer due to concerns over a lack of consistency – he has proved them wrong.

In proving them wrong he has given a huge boost to Leeds but also may have cost them as that interest is likely to ramp up, with Fabrizio Romano reporting [21 October] top-division intrigue remains.

When it comes to consistency and product in front of goal, you don’t get much better than what Summerville has shown in the Championship so far this season. Ten goal contributions in 11 appearances at just 22 years old is a fantastic record.

In fact, the winger has eight goal contributions in his last five Championship games. Four of those came in the 4-1 victory against Huddersfield, as Summerville bagged two goals and two assists in a dominant performance.

In that display against Huddersfield at Elland Road, Summerville was taken off after 60 minutes, with his job already done. In that time, he had a 100% cross-completion rate, had three shots on target, and completed two of three attempted dribbles. [Sofascore]

In the games prior to that one, against Norwich, Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers, he racked up a total of 12 key passes, nine completed dribbles, four shots on target, and won 19 duels as he proved he is a level above the Championship.

Leeds fans will be hoping that he can reach the Premier League via promotion with them this season, but with clubs circling, they will face a fight to keep hold of their star man for much longer.
