Leeds United will be buzzing at official news elsewhere today

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side have had a great first half of the season and will be looking to strengthen their spot atop the table in the second half of the season.

The Whites currently sit at the top of the Championship, a point clear of Burnley and Sheffield United as the push for automatic promotion looks to be another close one.

The West Yorkshire outfit have a break from league duty on Saturday (11 January) as they host a local FA Cup tie against Harrogate Town at Elland Road.

The boss will no doubt rest some of his side for this game in the hope that he still has the strength to see the game out easily.

After a busy December schedule, this will be a welcome break for some of the squad ahead of three more games in January against Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and Norwich City.

The Canaries are the lowest-ranked side of the three although sit just four points from the play-off spots meaning it will not be an easy game.

Leeds United handed boost ahead of Norwich City clash

After drawing 1-1 with Norwich back in October, Farke will be looking to overcome his former employers and get three points on 22 January at Elland Road.

The Whites have been given a big boost in their aims for that clash after the FA confirmed via X that Borja Sainz has been suspended for six games after being found guilty of spitting at Chris Mepham during Norwich’s game against Sunderland in December.

Therefore, this means that the striker will be unavailable for the game against Leeds this month.

Sainz has had an excellent season so far and is the Championship’s top scorer with 15 goals from the campaign so far.

The 23-year-old is far ahead of his teammates with the second-highest goalscorers at Norwich all having four goals for the season so far.

Therefore, this will surely be news that Farke welcomes to give his side a boost with the Canaries missing such a core part of their squad for the fixture.
