Leeds United vindicated by Glen Kamara transfer decision as new update emerges

Leeds United were one of the many Championship teams that underwent a lot of change in the summer transfer window.

The Whites both sold and bought several players and while their team wasn’t completely new look, the changes they made still had a feel of a team more than capable of earning automatic promotion this term.

One sale that came as a bit of a surprise was Glen Kamara’s, especially after Archie Gray had also left, but making a profit on him made the decision an understandable one.

While the former Rangers man departed Elland Road for pastures new in Ligue 1, it seems like things haven’t gone quite to plan, especially after the latest transfer news that has emerged from France.

As per a report from Jeunes Footeux (25 December), Rennes manager Jorge Samaoli “is not counting on” the midfielder for the second half of the campaign.

This news has reportedly piqued the interest of fellow Championship side Sunderland who are looking to recruit a defensive midfielder in January with the Blackcats already making an enquiry.

Why was the transfer decision of Leeds United on Glen Kamara vindicated?

While Kamara’s departure may have initially confused fans, the fact he now looks to be on his way out of France after just half a season there shows how good of a deal the Whites made off with.

Indeed, Sunderland are looking to make a move for him but with the place Regis Le Bris’ men find themselves compared to the Whites in the league, it feels like Daniel Farke got the better half of the deal.

Especially when the fact that Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka were the two players the German chose to bring in to help form his new midfield ranks.

Only time will tell if the Finland international will make a return to England and thrive once again but at the moment, it feels like Leeds certainly got the better end of the stick.
