Leeds United transfer twist ‘as Louie Barry medical scheduled’
Leeds United look set to miss out on the signing of Louie Barry, with the Villa forward due to undergo a medical at Hull City ahead of a loan move, and it seems like a missed opportunity.
The Whites are one of the few clubs yet to make a signing this winter amid links to Aston Villa’s Barry, but if the latest reports are to be believed, even that one now appears to be off the cards.
Having been recalled from his loan spell at Stockport County, Barry now looks set to join Hull City on loan for the remainder of the campaign with a medical already booked across Yorkshire [James Hoggarth].
Whether the links to Elland Road were ever genuine is yet to be known, but it feels like yet another missed opportunity for the Whites and it leaves a question to be asked over their ambitions for the window.
What are Leeds United doing this window?
While it is important to acknowledge the level of quality in the Leeds squad currently, the question has to be asked as to why they are yet to bring in any new players nearly four weeks into the window.
All of Leeds’ direct promotion rivals have strengthened, significantly, yet the Whites seem happy to get through to the end of the season with the current crop of players.
That could very well pay off but it seems like a huge and unnecessary risk to be taken when the opportunity to inject some additional quality in the squad has been present.
One or two additions can often be the deciding factor for promotion, and in such a tightly contested Championship, that claim may certainly have credibility.
There is still a week remaining in the window, but any noise of potential incoming at Elland Road is dauntingly quiet.
And any hope of bolstering the squad with young and exciting Villa gem Barry are now extinguished by these latest reports.
