Leeds United transfer news as Edouard Michut left at home after new approach

Leeds United have been handed another boost in their chase to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Edouard Michut, as the French side announced their pre-season tour squad.

Announced via their official website on 21 July, Michut has not been included in the squad for their trip to Japan this summer, as he continues to be linked with a move away from the club, with Leeds United showing a keen interest in the player.

The midfielder spent the latter half of last season on loan with Sunderland where he experienced his first taste of Championship football, with Leeds now making an approach to sign him [Daily Mail].

Leeds should capitalise on the sequence of events

With every passing day, a new reason emerges for Michut to make the switch to the Yorkshire club. Having made claims about his preferred style of play, which suits Daniel Farke’s system, and now being left out of his club’s pre-season plans, everything seems to be falling into place.

At the small price of £2.5million, signing Michut for the midfield would allow Leeds to invest larger sums into the rest of their squad as they look to strengthen ahead of the new Championship season.

Leeds have made clear their desire to build a strong squad capable of challenging for promotion straight back into the Premier League, or even for the title. Michut was part of the Sunderland side that made the playoff places last season.

Having already had six months of adaptation to Championship football, more exposure to play at this level will help the Frenchman to adapt and bulk up, which will be a necessary step to keeping up with the intense physical play of the league.
