Leeds United to take caution with Troy Parrott transfer decision as stats expose risk

Troy Parrott remains linked with a summer transfer to Leeds United.

What happens in the summer is largely going to be determined by what happens between now and the end of May, with Leeds right back in the relegation conversation.

A win against Sunderland could have seen them go nine points clear of the bottom three, but instead, they find themselves just three points above it with nine games to go.

Discussions will already be taking place at Elland Road in regard to their potential summer transfer business, and Parrott’s name will almost certainly have been mentioned.

However, if that is to be the case the Whites must take plenty of caution with this potential Leeds transfer,

Stats expose why Troy Parrott transfer may be too great a risk

Parrott has been linked with Leeds, and has been on fire for Alkmaar over the last few seasons, and his form is what has ultimately earned him interest from several Premier League clubs.

Leeds are among those to have shown an interest in the former Tottenham star, who has spent a large portion of his career in the lower leagues in England before moving abroad to the Eredevisisie where he has completely rebuilt his career.

For him, that was an excellent move, but for Leeds to bring him back here would be a major risk, and that is showcased by the Sofascore graphic below.

Despite having played two fewer games in Holland, Parrott has scored a remarkable 45 more goals, while also having registered eight more assists.

His 20.3 per cent conversion rate showcases the quality he has in the final third, but again, that is reduced signficantly when looking at his time in England.

What would this mean for the future of Joel Piroe?

Joel Piroe was heavily linked with an exit from Leeds in January, with Rangers, Celtic, Middlesbrough and several other Championship clubs interested.

However, Leeds’ inability to sign a replacement prevented him from leaving, with last season’s top scorer now forced to sit on the bench.

Anm exit in the summer is already looking likely, and that will only be amplified if another striker arrives at Elland Road.

Whether that will be Parrott or not remains to be seen, but if so, it’s clear that the Whites need to do their homework on the Irishman.
