Leeds United to ‘seal Callum Wilson transfer’ as Newcastle farewell footage drops

Daniel Farke is ready for a busy summer, getting his Leeds United side in shape for life in the Premier League.

One area where the Whites need to focus their sights is in the final third, with Joel Piroe the only convincing option going into the top flight.

Patrick Bamford, Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt have all been linked with moves away from Elland Road this summer, with none having too much of an impact in West Yorkshire this term.

Meanwhile, Callum Wilson is one man who has been identified as a potential solution to the problems at Leeds and Farke now has a perfect opportunity to strike a deal.

With the Premier League season officially over, all eyes are on transfers.

Wilson waves goodbye to Newcastle United

Although he was previously a core part of the Newcastle squad, Wilson has found his game time limited this term, making just 18 Premier League appearances.

The striker struggled with an injury and, since getting fit, has been unable to shift Alexander Isak out of the starting line-up.

With his contract at St James’ Park expiring at the end of this season, and Newcastle securing Champions League football on Sunday, an exit already seemed likely.

However, that seems to have been all but confirmed after the Magpies’ final game of the campaign on 25 May.

Although the 33-year-old came on in the 70th minute, he took to the pitch after the full-time whistle for a solo lap of honour, waving to the home supporters and looking visibly emotional, suggesting a farewell.

Leeds to strike deal for Wilson

With Wilson highly likely to be making an exit from Newcastle, Leeds can now go and seal a bargain deal to sign the striker.

Wilson has made it clear that he is eager to carry on playing and going to a side who are likely to be further down the Premier League table could be a good fit.

When Newcastle were further down the table, the striker was a starman in the side and can certainly replicate similar levels if he can stay fit and get regular minutes.

Wilson can be a danger up top with regular minutes.

Farke will be looking to bring in different options to strengthen his depth in the final third and having someone with the experience to succeed cannot be underestimated.

The reception he received from the Toon Army speaks volumes about the type of character he is, and Leeds can certainly benefit from his services.
