Leeds United ‘to ready Danny Ings transfer’ after West Ham announcement

West Ham United striker Danny Ings can give Leeds United what they want after Premier League promotion at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s team celebrated the Championship title win in style, with around 150,000 fans gathered in the city during the bus parade.

The Whites will now hope to avoid immediate relegation from the top flight next season, with Joel Piroe probably leading the line at Elland Road as things stand.

While the Dutch striker has been impressive at the West Yorkshire outfit in recent months, they’ll arguably need more firepower to cope with the rigours of the upcoming campaign.

Ings free transfer should be sanctioned at Leeds United after West Ham exit

West Ham have announced that Ings will be leaving the London Stadium at the end of the season.

The Hammers revealed on their X (9 May) that the 32-year-old’s contract, which expires in the coming weeks, won’t be renewed.

George Simms previously suggested that the West Yorkshire outfit should look into the possibility of signing the English centre-forward, and now have the opportunity to ready a contract offer.

In The i, the journalist wrote: “Bringing in a striker of unquestionable Premier League quality would provide Leeds with a key asset for survival.

“Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be available on a free, while West Ham’s Ings is another possible option.”

Farke needs multiple transfer reinforcements at Elland Road

Farke will have a significant sum to spend at Elland Road in the upcoming transfer window, but there are several key positions to strengthen, including buying a new goalkeeper.

Illan Meslier lost his place to Karl Darlow in the final matches of the season, and it would be surprising to see the Frenchman being given another chance after promotion to the Premier League.

The West Yorkshire outfit could arguably also do with a few defensive reinforcements next summer, with Sam Byram and Junior Firpo’s futures uncertain as their contracts expire soon.

Leeds should also add more depth at centre-back, with Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk not enough for survival in the top flight.

The Whites may also need to bring more bodies for the engine room, as Joe Rothwell’s signed at Elland Road on loan from Bournemouth last summer.

Josuha Guilavogui’s future at the West Yorkshire outfit is also uncertain, making additions in the middle of the park something the recruitment team must think about.

While 49ers Enterprises will be expected to spend money, Ings could potentially prove to be a bargain option, having scored 72 goals in the Premier League over the years.

Someone like the 32-year-old would possibly be a decent backup for the Whites next season.
