Leeds United to pull off masterstroke after surprise Rak-Sakyi development at Crystal Palace

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi staying at home as Crystal Palace jet out to the USA for a pre-season trip could give Leeds United the perfect chance to pounce for a loan transfer.

Journalist Alan Nixon reported on his Patreon page on Tuesday (30 July) that the Eagles were expected to give Rak-Sakyi an opportunity to stake a place in the first team this season having impressed in pre-season.

But the “surprise development” has now cast doubt on those plans and a door has now seemingly been opened for interested parties to pounce for the 21-year-old.

Clubs including the Whites and Championship play-off final winners Southampton are reportedly queuing up to sign the young winger, who is under contract at Selhurst Park for the next four years.

However, with this development suggesting that the 21-year-old will be on the move this summer, Daniel Farke’s side risk being beaten to his services if they don’t make an enquiry in the coming days.

Leeds United face Jesurun Rak-Sakyi transfer dilemma

Although Nixon’s report suggests that Rak-Sakyi will almost certainly be playing in new club colours next season, Southampton are the only club mentioned who are reportedly willing to buy the Palace winger [Alan Nixon, 22 July].

That could potentially leave the Whites in a bind, particularly given that at present, they’re not short of exceptional wide players and thus wouldn’t be able to give Rak-Sakyi regular, guaranteed minutes.

That proved to be the case for Jaidon Anthony last season, who after arriving on loan from Bournemouth, made just two league starts and couldn’t displace Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto or Dan James.

Rak-Sakyi would likely start at a similar position in the pecking order – with Brenden Aaronson also in the mix – and thus a move only seems sensible if one of the Peacocks’ current wingers departs.

But things can move quickly in transfer windows and there is seemingly an opportunity to bring Rak-Sakyi to Elland Road. It could end up being a masterstroke if they did given how highly rated he is.
