Leeds United to land Terem Moffi signing in days as legal action readied

Terem Moffi has been linked with a move to Leeds United this January.

Leeds are yet to make use of the January transfer window, despite their spot in the Premier League arguably hinging on it.

The Whites still have several areas of the squad that they need to work on, and the arrival of another striker is certainly on that list, with a wide player almost definitely on the agenda as well.

Leeds have been linked with a move for Moffi, and after the latest reports from France, they may be able to take a huge stride towards a deal this week.

Terem Moffi wants out of France after November incident

Moffi has been at OCG Nice since 2023, when his loan move was turned into a permanent deal.

Since then, the 26-year-old has scored 24 goals across 72 appearances for the French outfit throughout all competitions.

However, things took a turn for the worse for Moffi on 30 November, when Nice supporters attacked several members of the squad after a 3-1 defeat to Lorient, his former club.

As a result, the 19-time capped Nigerian has been on sick leave since the incident, with a report from L’Equipe now stating that he is ready to take legal action to terminate his contract.

The case is expected to be reviewed on Thursday, and if he is granted an exit, Leeds could push forward with their interest to sign him on a free.

Several other Premier League clubs are also said to be monitoring the situation.

What type of striker is Moffi?

Moffi possesses very similar traits to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been on fire for Leeds as of late.

He’s a physical, direct striker who likes to get in behind defensive lines on occasion.

Moffi suits teams who like to play on the counter and prioritise crosses into the area, which is exactly what the Whites have been doing under Daniel Farke this season.

Given Noah Okafor’s struggles in the new system, Leeds desperately need someone else to complement Calvert-Lewin, and Moffi would be the perfect fit.

To get him for free would be nothing but an added incentive.
