Leeds United to inflict transfer disappointment on Euro club after Joe Rodon blow
Joe Rodon’s injury may have damaged FC Koln’s transfer hopes in January.
Leeds United secured a point in a 1-1 draw away to Sunderland on Sunday, though it will arguably be seen as two points dropped considering the circumstances.
The Black Cats were without five key players, and the Whites were by far the better team from the second half onwards.
However, a point is a point, with the biggest concern emerging in the form of Rodon, who suffered an injury after a challenge from Simon Adingra.

Rodon injury could hamper FC Koln’s transfer plans
Daniel Farke deserves immense credit for his decision to switch to a back five at Leeds, given the fact that it has been the catalyst behind their impressive return to form.
Rodon has featured alongside Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk in the heart of defence, all of whom have impressed.
However, after the Welshman’s injury, Sebastian Bornauw will be next in line to fill in at centre back, and that could be damaging to FC Koln’s transfer plans.
That’s because it was reported that Bornauw was a primary target for FC Koln ahead of the January transfer window.

But now, with the Belgian one of three fit centre-back options, it seems highly unlikely that the Whites would even consider sanctioning his exit.

What did Daniel Farke have to say about Rodon’s injury?
Given the fact that Rodon has been one of Leeds’ star performers this season, it is understandable that Farke was left frustrated by his injury, even more so when considering the challenge from Adingra went unpunished just minutes before he scored the opener.
The Welshman hadn’t missed a game in two years for Leeds before now, with that record now surely in doubt ahead of a clash with Liverpool.
Farke has yet to reveal the true severity of the injury sustained, but his initial prognosis will not fill many with much hope.
Via the Yorkshire Evening Post, the German boss said: “Not good, Joe is my warrior. Has played so many games in a row, and of course, he wanted to stay on the pitch, but right now, got a hit on his ankle, and by doing this, I think he also rolled his ankle, and it’s pretty swollen.
“At the moment, I doubt that he will be available for Liverpool and also for the upcoming games before the FA Cup game. So we have to wait for some further assessment. But right now, straight after the game, it doesn’t look too good.“
Given how strongly Leeds finished the clash with Sunderland, Farke could revert to a back four, though, given the lack of possession they will have against Liverpool, it may be a chance for Bornauw to show what he is capable of.
