Leeds United to cost themselves promotion if Pascal Struijk sale sanctioned

Daniel Farke is looking to get his Leeds United side back up into the Premier League this season.

The Whites have had a strong season so far and currently sit second in the Championship, three points away from Sheffield United in top spot.

However, it is tight at the top end of the Championship with Burnley just one point behind in third.

Therefore, Leeds need to keep their standards high throughout the remainder of the campaign if they are going to keep their place in the automatic promotion spots.

With this in mind, a number of reinforcements may be needed in the January transfer window, although Farke has expressed his desire to keep business to a minimum.

If he is going to do so then it is essential he keeps Pascal Struijk on the books despite transfer interest from Tottenham.

Pascal Struijk could be the difference in Leeds United promotion hopes

Struijk has been an integral part of Farke’s side this season and his 100 per cent record in the starting line-up shows the part he has had to play in the Whites campaign up to this point.

In addition to this, the centre-back has scored two goals which highlights the ability of the 25-year-old to contribute to the squad at both ends of the pitch.

Although an offer for the player from the top flight could be convincing, the West Yorkshire outfit have to do all they can to ensure they keep their man up until the end of the campaign as a minimum.

It could be a tempting move for the player, but the club would do well to remind him that game time could be limited as he would be signed as a cover for the injured pairing of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

However, if he gained promotion to the top flight with his current side he would surely continue to be a main player for the Whites next season.

Leeds are under no pressure to sell with the 25-year-old’s contract running until 2027 and therefore Farke has to consider retaining his services as vital to his side’s promotion hunt as adding a new signing would be.
