Leeds United to benefit from Ryan Kent transfer despite fitness worry
Leeds United could still benefit from taking a punt on free agent winger Ryan Kent before the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old has been without a club since leaving Fenerbahce in October and needs a new spark in his career, boasting prior Championship experience.
TV commentator Ian Darke has recently been among those against the signing of Kent, citing his lack of match sharpness until a point which would take Leeds fairly close to the opening of the winter market.
But a potential arrival for Kent could be the low-risk opportunity to bulk up the squad and make the talented wide options even more competitive.
In fact, a player of his match-winning ability could even be the sort of signing that gets them over the line in their battle for promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds United to consider Ryan Kent?
Darke did admit with his recent comments that Kent could “conceivably” become an important player in a hypothetical scenario at Elland Road.
Sharpness concerns aside, he would also be competing in the most well-stocked area of Daniel Farke’s pretty compact squad.
It had been swelled out slightly more of late through the free agent market as Josuha Guilavogui arrived for midfield cover.
But Kent knows what it takes to thrive under pressure, having represented Rangers for a number of years and lifted two trophies during his stint at Ibrox.

It did not work out at all for the wide man under Jose Mourinho, who froze him out before the club and player came to a mutual agreement to bring his spell in the Turkish Super Lig to an end.
However, very experienced for his age and having sampled the Championship with Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley as a young player, Kent may not be an immediate starter but could appeal as a useful freebie in a minute squad.
