Leeds United appear to take swipe at Sky Sports after Middlesbrough fixture announcement
Leeds United appeared to take a swipe at Sky Sports with a message posted on the club’s official X account on Friday (22 March).
Sky Sports announced earlier in the day that the meeting with Middlesbrough has been pushed back to 22 April – a Monday night.
In a tweet confirming the fixture change, Leeds pointed out that it will be “our 31st televised game of the season” in what was surely a dig.
Having 31 fixtures televised by the end of April when playing outside of the Premier League is a staggering number.
Leeds fans have not been pleased with the large number of fixtures that have been moved, some of them at relatively short notice.
Middlesbrough vs Leeds United fixture change confirmed
Just like in this instance, many who had already made arrangements for the Boro game may now have to think twice given the scheduling.
It comes on the back of a Sky Sports employee reportedly reaching out to the club to ask how the broadcaster can make amends with fans.
As reported by The Athletic’s Phil Hay on 18 February, Sky do not want to hear derogatory chants aimed their way when airing Leeds games.
Well the more games they move, the more unrest it will cause among the Leeds United fanbase.
This latest fixture change announcement, and the tweet sent by Leeds, will do little to diffuse the situation.
And those who make the trip to the Riverside Stadium will no doubt be quick to let Sky Sports know exactly what they think of the fixture change.
In other Leeds United news, Don Goodman has mooted four new arrivals at Elland Road this summer as he made a ‘huge, huge” claim.
