Leeds United still have Daniel Jebbison hope after Bournemouth transfer development

Daniel Jebbison could still play Leeds United next season despite the striker reportedly turning down an offer from the club to sign for Bournemouth instead.

Journalist Graeme Bailey posted on X (10 July) after reporting that the Sheffield United striker agreed to join Bournemouth permanently on a free transfer, stating that the Cherries will look to loan him out [Bailey, 9 July].

Although no potential destinations for the striker were revealed, the Whites should definitely be remaining interested in his services and pursue a loan deal for the Canadian-born 20-year-old.

It wouldn’t be the first time Daniel Farke’s side have done similar business with Bournemouth, having taken winger Jaidon Anthony on loan last season with Luis Sinisterra heading the other way.

Leeds United must confirm game-time in Daniel Jebbison transfer

While Bournemouth were more than happy to send Anthony to Elland Road at the 11th hour of last summer’s transfer deadline day, the winger has happily returned to the Vitality Stadium at the end of the season [Instagram, 30 May].

The Cherries now have both Anthony and Sinisterra on their books permanently, having signed the Colombian wide man for £20million in February in a move welcomed by the United hierarchy.

Had the Whites sealed promotion from the Championship, they may have pursued a permanent deal for Anthony, but he had very little impact despite a bright start in LS11 and was perennially on the bench [Adam Pope, 20 June].

Just two of his 31 Championship appearances were starts as Anthony came off the bench 32 times in all competitions, and that lack of game-time might make the Cherries reluctant to loan them Jebbison.

Bournemouth will want a guarantee that their new striker will develop with ample minutes to do so, and although he won’t have Crysencio Summerville, Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto ahead of him in the pecking order as Anthony did, Jebbison will want to be starting matches regularly wherever he goes.

But it would certainly make sense from a Leeds perspective to add another option to their forward ranks, particularly amid ongoing uncertainty over the future of Patrick Bamford. They should definitely be looking to make this one happen.
