Leeds United should sign ‘dominant’ star after club figures spotted at Europa League match

Leeds United scouts have done their homework on some European stars ahead of the January transfer window.

Daniel Farke is aware that multiple quality additions are needed, particularly in attack, for the Whites to climb away from the bottom three.

Leeds have been linked with Chelsea’s Tyrique George, the talented 19-year-old who has impressed under Enzo Maresca this term.

Unsurprisingly, George isn’t the only player on their radar ahead of the winter window, as Leeds are plotting a sensational return for Kalvin Phillips.

That said, scouts aren’t just looking in the Premier League for talent, as they’ve been spotted watching a Europa League match.

Leeds United scouts watched Midtjylland vs Genk

According to Danish outlet Bold, Leeds officials were spotted at the Europa League showdown between Midtjylland and Genk.

The Whites were joined by top-flight rivals Liverpool and Manchester United, while German giants Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Mönchengladbach were some of the other clubs in attendance.

Leeds have already scouted Midtjylland’s goal machine Franculino ahead of the January window, although an injury to the 21-year-old meant he wasn’t available on Thursday night.

In Franculino’s absence, scouts from Elland Road would have enjoyed viewing one of his teammates, who was excellent against Genk.

Leeds should sign Ousmane Diao

Midtjylland clinched a priceless 1-0 victory over the Belgian Pro League side as Gue-sung Cho’s strike put them into second in the league table.

Cho was impressive on the night, totalling four shots on goal and recording an xG of 1.36 from attacking midfield.

However, whilst the South Korean carried the fight to Genk, Leeds scouts would have been even more wowed by the performance of centre-back Ousmane Diao.

Starting on the right of a back three, Diao – who has been labelled ‘dominant’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig – produced a flawless display for the hosts.

Ousmane Diao’s stats vs Genk
90 minutes played
3/3 tackles won
4/4 ground duels won
9/9 aerial duels won
4 recoveries
18 clearances

The 21-year-old didn’t mistime a single tackle and won all of his contested duels, while making a whopping 18 clearances.

Diao proved to be an immovable object in defence, and Leeds should arguably do everything in their power to capture him next month.
