Leeds United share new footage as Struijk and Wober spotted after injuries

Pascal Struijk and Max Wober both featured in a behind-the-scenes video by Leeds United despite Daniel Farke saying the pair had missed training in recent days.

The Whites released an “Inside Training” video on YouTube (19 December) hours after Farke said in his pre-match press conference that both Struijk and Wober are doubts to face Oxford United on Saturday.

Farke mentioning that neither defender had completed training for the last two days raises questions given both appear in the Thorp Arch video, suggesting that the German is playing mind games.

In quotes reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke said on Wober: “A little setback in training – some knee problems again, he was not able to train today again. Looks like he won’t be available for this game.

“Some concerns for Pascal Struijk, struggling with tightness in his hamstring, has not trained yesterday or today.

Although there’s a good chance that their YouTube video was filmed and compiled earlier in the week than the specific sessions mentioned by Farke, including Struijk and Wober in it will only raise questions.

It’ll also raise fans’ hopes that the pair could be fit to face Oxford on Saturday, but while Farke hasn’t ruled either player out with certainty, Struijk and Wober pitching up at Elland Road would be a surprise.

United do have the option of giving Ethan Ampadu his first start in white since returning from an injury lay-off of his own, but for the sake of squad depth, fans would rather see the Welshman in midfield.

Struijk and Wober have had contrasting seasons thus far, with the former captaining the Peacocks in Ampadu’s absence and the latter being restricted to just five appearances despite scoring against Derby.

Fans will hope the duo are back fit and firing as soon as possible, but given both have been seen training and looking untroubled, the Elland Road faithful won’t expect Struijk and Wober to be missing for long.
