Leeds United ready for Jorgen Strand Larsen-like summer transfer after £100m development

Leeds United missed out on Jorgen Strand Larsen to Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window, but they may be ready for something big in the summer.

The former Wolves striker joined the Eagles in a £48million package deal despite heavy interest from the Whites right until deadline day.

Considering their efforts to sign the Norway international, 49ers Enterprises will likely reinforce the number nine position at Elland Road soon, with a new centre-forward and a quality goalkeeper likely to be prioritised by Daniel Farke.

The West Yorkshire outfit’s supporters were a bit disappointed to miss out on Strand Larsen, 26, but the Peacocks could potentially have another significant deal up their sleeves.

Leeds United ready to spend £100m on summer transfers

Leeds will have around £100million to spend in the summer transfer window if they stay in the Premier League, according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet reports on 20 February that while cash is tight at Elland Road, the 49ers are willing to make a significant investment if the Whites survive relegation.

Paraag Marathe has come under some criticism from supporters in LS11 for the West Yorkshire outfit’s lack of spending in the previous two transfer windows.

The American owners are undoubtedly lucky that their apparent gambles on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha paid off, with both forwards signing as free agents.

With Joel Piroe struggling to live up to expectations in the Premier League and falling down the pecking order, the Whites will surely be looking for a new number nine in the summer, and they clearly have the money to spend like they were willing to do on Strand Larsen.

Daniel Farke will be worried about one area at Elland Road

Lucas Perri was supposed to be the new number one at Leeds when they signed him from Olympique Lyon last summer.

After some error-prone, underwhelming performances in the Premier League, the Brazilian goalkeeper was dropped to the bench for Karl Darlow.

The Wales international has had his own struggles at times for the Whites, but Perri did put in an encouraging display in the FA Cup fourth round penalty shootout win against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.

It will be interesting to see who will be Farke’s first-choice shot-stopper for the rest of the campaign, and it’s an area that will surely be reevaluated at the end of the season.
