Leeds United ready Fode Ballo-Toure transfer after pre-season developments
Leeds United have heavily ventured into the transfer market this summer and have brought in multiple players to bolster their ranks.
Players such as Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle have arrived to help shore up the Whites’ defence whilst others such as Archie Gray and Diego Llorente have both exited [Estadio Deportivo, 10 July].
This not only shows that the club’s main changes have come in a defensive capacity but also that they aren’t afraid to sell anyone for the right price.
After their failure to gain Premier League promotion at the final stage last season, there’s no doubt that the club will be gunning for the automatic promotion spots this term.
Sam Byram and Junior Firpo are the club’s current left-back options but as Byram can also play on the right, he may be needed to deputise in that role more often than not.
This leaves the West Yorkshire outfit somewhat light in that department.
Enter, Fode Ballo-Toure. The AC Milan left-back has been linked with Leeds [Foot Mercato, 18 July] since the middle of July and since then, the defender has been made to train alone and has now been omitted from the Italian club’s pre-season USA tour.
Fode Ballo-Toure would be a stellar transfer for Leeds United
The Senegal left-back is 27 years old and has had plenty of experience in top flights across the world.
Ballo-Toure has most recently spent time in the Premier League with Fulham. He joined the club on a season-long loan deal and ended up making eight appearances across all competitions for the Cottagers.
The vast majority of his time came in the Carabao Cup but when used, he showed that he was a solid player.
He’d help provide further stability to an already strong Leeds defensive line and would perhaps offer some competition to Firpo as the season goes on.
All in all, should Leeds acquire Ballo-Toure’s services, it would improve their defensive ranks tenfold and could even provide cover centrally if needed.
Only time will tell whether Daniel Farke will choose to make a move for the defender.
