Leeds United push Joel Piroe out in January after new £13m deal for Daniel Farke

Leeds United certainly won’t miss Joel Piroe too much if he leaves in the winter transfer window.

The Suriname international has played a bit-part role for the Whites in the Premier League after finishing last season as the Championship’s top goalscorer.

Piroe is apparently looking to fight for his place at Elland Road, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be afforded the opportunities in LS11.

Daniel Farke has signed Facundo Buonanotte in January, and the West Yorkshire outfit is looking to further bolster the attacking options before Deadline Day.

Daniel Farke wants Romano Schmid at Leeds United

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha are clearly Farke’s preferred number nine options at Leeds over Piroe.

The Suriname forward has fallen down the pecking order and is now also competing with the likes of Noah Okafor and Brenden Aaronson in the starting lineup.

With Buonanotte arriving at Elland Road, the 26-year-old attacker surely has another player to worry about.

Farke now also wants Werder Bremen attacker Romano Schmid, with negotiations ongoing over a possible £13million deal for the 25-year-old.

The 31-cap Austria international is a versatile forward capable of playing in the number 10 position and up front.

It seems like the West Yorkshire outfit are trying to push Piroe out in the coming weeks, and Schmid’s signing could potentially tip the former Swansea star over the edge.

Daniel Farke should shift focus as new transfer priority emerges

Jaka Bijol has picked up a hamstring injury at Elland Road, and it remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined for.

James Justin played as one of the three centre-backs against Fulham at home on 17 January, with Leeds winning 1-0 after a late goal from Nmecha.

Sebastiaan Bornauw has been injury-prone at the West Yorkshire outfit this season, while Joe Rodon has also suffered some fitness issues.

A new centre-back should be the next priority for the Whites after signing Buonanotte, but only time will tell who they will end up signing in the coming weeks.
