Leeds United Premier League hopes already derailed after rare Daniel Farke success

Daniel Farke can’t seem to catch a break as his Leeds United future continues to be in doubt.

The German manager did breathe a rare sign of relief as Chelsea were well beaten at Elland Road on 3 December in the Premier League.

With the former Norwich City boss opting for a change in formation, fans had renewed hope of surviving relegation with the 5-3-2 system.

That joy may not last for long as the West Yorkshire outfit face Liverpool on 6 December, with 49ers Enterprises still looking for Farke’s replacement.

Leeds United loses key to success after Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha injuries

Farke shared that Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha are doubts as Leeds welcome Liverpool.

Elland Road will host Arne Slot’s team, who are going through a rough patch at the moment.

While this might be the perfect time to face the Merseyside outfit, the 49-year-old head coach may have to come up with a different strategy.

The West Yorkshire outfit’s two number nines worked well together against Chelsea, and if they’re unavailable, Farke may have to revert to the previous system.

It seems like the hopes of avoiding relegation have already suffered a consequential blow as the two centre-forwards struggle for fitness.

The two summer signings had a history of recurring injury concerns at their previous clubs, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Peacocks in a position where neither is fit in the coming future.

Daniel Farke has something Premier League relegation rivals don’t

Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha are two strikers who could give Farke an edge in the Premier League, with other teams near the bottom of the table lacking goalscoring options.

Jorgen Strand Larsen and Hwang Hee-chan can’t seem to arrest Wolves’ descent; Burnley are also struggling to find goals; and West Ham United have Callum Wilson and an injury-prone Niclas Fullkrug.

The England international and ex-VfL Wolfsburg striker can form a partnership to lead Leeds to safety, but it remains to be seen whether they can stay fit.

It will be interesting to see whether Farke will give Joel Piroe a chance to redeem himself against Liverpool amid the injury crisis.
