Leeds United now know what to do after Man City response to McAtee bid

James McAtee had been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Leeds have had a busy summer transfer window so far ahead of their return to the Premier League, though they will be well aware that there is still a lot of work to be done.

After missing out on Igor Paixao, the Whites still need to add more quality to their forward line, with several targets linked with a move.

One of those was Manchester City’s McAtee, and after the latest update, Leeds know exactly what they need to do.

Leeds must move on from McAtee interest

McAtee would’ve been a very good signing, but after it emerged that Nottingham Forest had seen a £25million bid rejected [Fabrizio Romano], it is one that no longer needs to be pursued.

At that price, it would’ve been a bargain, but any fee higher than that would represent a risk for a side like Leeds, who cannot afford to take such a thing this summer.

After all, McAtee’s best season arrived in the Championship, and for that money, Leeds could go and sign a top-level striker, which is clearly their current priority.

With that said, adding more creativity to the squad will be important for Leeds ahead of the new campaign, though there are certainly other areas of the squad that need to be addressed first.

Daniel Farke still needs to see more

The business done so far this summer is certainly impressive, though it will not be enough to guarantee their survival in the Premier League.

Farke will be aware of this, as will the 49ers, with a crucial few weeks ahead before they return to competitive action.

If Leeds can sign a striker to guarantee goals, and I find an alternative for Paixao, they will be in a very promising promotion and will certainly have the means to get off to a good start in August.
