Leeds United not missing much as Colombian media slam Luis Sinisterra performance

Colombian media have raced to criticise Leeds United loanee Luis Sinisterra for his performance in their 0-0 draw with Chile on 13 August, after he missed a glaring chance to give them the victory.

The new Bournemouth player, who joined on loan from Leeds on deadline day, was labelled a “tremendous failure” by Fanaticos, who criticised his decision to pass the ball rather than slot it into an empty net, which they claim cost Colombia the game.

The criticism continued as the fans do not feel Sinisterra is worthy of wearing the “legendary” number nine shirt previously worn by ex-Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao, who is their all-time top goalscorer.

Sinisterra’s poor display is evidence for Leeds that they’re not missing much. Despite the drama surrounding his departure and the desire from the club, the fans and Daniel Farke to keep him at the club for the upcoming season, it was a reminder that he certainly isn’t perfect.

Leeds did well from the deal in the end, having secured a loan for Jaidon Anthony for the season which gave them a ready-made replacement for the Colombian who already has experience of winning promotion from the Championship and will look to recreate his success at Elland Road.

Had Sinisterra made a mistake like this in a Championship game, it could make the difference between Leeds making the playoffs or missing out, in such a competitive league.

Ultimately, the Colombian is a huge loss for Leeds. His quality would have shone in the second tier and will be missed at Elland Road, but with a few more performances like this one, the club may be breathing a sigh of relief after all, particularly if Anthony shows his worth.
