Leeds United ‘must take transfer advantage’ after what Callum Wilson just said
Daniel Farke is already hard at work with Leeds United, preparing for life in the Premier League.
The German boss did a terrific job with the Whites this season, but that has to be backed up by keeping their spot in the top flight, which requires making the necessary additions this summer.
Callum Wilson has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road already, as Alexander Isak takes priority at Newcastle United, and Leeds may just have received the green light.

Wilson ready to seal transfer
Joel Piroe was the star man in the final third for Leeds this season, ending the campaign with the Championship Golden Boot award.
However, the striker failed to break the 20-goal barrier and, having struggled at times in the season, there are doubts over whether he will be able to produce the required levels in the Premier League.
Additionally, with exits on the cards from Elland Road for both Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph, Farke will certainly need reinforcements in the team.
Now, reports have strongly linked Wilson with a move to West Yorkshire, and it seems as though the striker may be up for that himself.
The 33-year-old has found himself as the second choice at St James’ Park this season, only really playing when Isak has been injured due to his impressive form.
However, speaking on the High Performance Podcast, Wilson admitted he has been frustrated by his situation as he said: “I know my worth and I know my value and I’m still so hungry inside that even though I know Alex is scoring goals, I’m still frustrated when the team sheet comes out and I’m not starting so I know I’m not ready to leave football yet.
“I’d love to leave football before football leaves me, I’d never let an injury stop me from playing – I think I’ve been fit now four-and-a-half months but I’ve probably only played 250 or 300 minutes and that side of things are frustrating because you don’t want to last few years on your career to fizzle away from you, especially when you’re worked so hard to get to that point.
“It’s all new for me at the moment, but I’m just enjoying life, enjoying football and playing with a smile on my face. What’s meant to be will be.”

Leeds could be perfect destination for Wilson
What Wilson has done for Newcastle over recent seasons cannot be underappreciated, but they are a side that are developing into Champions League football and players are likely to be left behind.
Not only has Isak been so impressive, but Wilson has struggled with injury and is an older player compared to his Swedish counterpart.
Season | Appearances | Goals |
2024/25 | 17 | 0 |
2023/24 | 20 | 9 |
2022/23 | 31 | 18 |
It is clear, though, that the striker is eager to keep playing to the best of his abilities for as long as he can, and despite being fit again, he’s not going to be afforded that opportunity in the North East, so Leeds have to take advantage of the situation.
However, when Newcastle were a side further down the Premier League, he proved to be the perfect striker and therefore, this could be replicated at Elland Road.
Farke won’t just be looking for one man to be the boost needed at the top of the pitch, but Wilson will surely still be able to produce the levels needed to impress in the Premier League.
This could be a perfect match.
