Leeds United must sanction Wilfried Gnonto sale now amid West Ham United interest, Daniel Farke doesn’t need him

Leeds United have certainly done their best to keep hold of exciting young attacker Wilfried Gnonto in recent seasons.

But another transfer window has now arrived and the Italian winger has once again been linked with an Elland Road exit.

This time it is in the form of Premier League club West Ham, with journalist Sacha Tavolieri reporting on Thursday (18 January) that the Whites are expected to lose Gnonto to the Hammers this month.

Tavolieri added that Leeds have already identified Burnley winger Manuel Benson as a suitable player to bring in should Gnonto depart.

And the sale of the latter is something that the Whites should not hold back on, with Farke not needing any more transfer drama at Elland Road.

The manager has a league campaign to focus on, and an unsettled squad is the last thing he will want ahead of a key period.

Moreover, the man in the dugout has not exactly turned to Gnonto for inspiration this season, with the winger playing just 700 league minutes.

He has managed one goal in that time, with the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Daniel James rightfully ahead of Gnonto in the pecking order.

There is also a healthy fee awaiting the West Yorkshire club for the sale of their young Italian, while finally they will seemingly not waste any time on bringing in a new attacker in the form of Burnley’s Benson.

Gnonto has certainly not reached the heights expected of him at Elland Road since he first burst onto the scene, and he won’t exactly be missed by the Leeds faithful given his never-ending transfer scenarios.
