Leeds United must keep hold of experienced Adam Forshaw amid Saudi Arabia offer

Leeds United knew a massive shake-up would be taking place at Elland Road this summer, particularly after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Fortunately two of the most important issues have been resolved, with Daniel Farke coming in as manager and 49ers Enterprises completing their takeover of the club.

Amid these key moments, player incomings and outgoings have been taking place, with the latter dominating the transfer scenes at Elland Road.

And there could now be another exit on the cards, with Adam Forshaw receiving a big money offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Akhdoud, according to the Daily Mail (18 July).

The newspaper added that the midfielder is now considering his options, having been in discussions with the Whites over a new contract at the club.

And it is that angle that Leeds should be pursuing in the coming weeks, with the West Yorkshire outfit needing a player like Forshaw among their ranks as they try and secure an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

At 31 years old, he is an experienced competitor with vast experience in the Championship, a league in which he has made 123 appearances.

Young and exciting talent is needed in the difficult league, but experienced players will be key in getting the Whites back to the top.

Moreover, Leeds have already lost several players this summer, with the likes of Rodrigo, Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen all moving on.

That was definitely part of the plan in a bid to balance the books, but the Whites must be careful not to oversell, particularly as the new season draws closer.

In Forshaw’s midfield position, Marc Roca has also left, with Weston McKennie returning to parent club Juventus after his loan spell.

Given his age, Forshaw is unlikely to go for a massive fee, even if the Saudi club can afford it, meaning Leeds should keep hold of the experienced player, unless of course it is a huge offer.

In other Leeds United news, one “frustrated” Whites talent wants to leave Elland Road in the summer transfer window.
