Leeds United must hold out against £15m Willy Gnonto transfer approach amid Elland Road exits

Leeds United are being tested by Premier League outfit Everton as the Toffees chase young attacker Wilfried Gnonto.

The Merseyside club have had a £15million approach rejected for the 19-year-old, according to the Daily Mail (16 July).

But it may not be the end of the saga, with other clubs perhaps also set to come in and make moves for the Italian winger.

The Whites, however, have to hold firm, and that is what they are currently doing, with the Daily Mail adding that Leeds have no interest in selling their star man.

It’s an attitude that the West Yorkshire club must maintain until the summer transfer window draws to a close, even if Gnonto wasn’t exactly a revelation at Elland Road last season.

New Whites boss Daniel Farke will want his attacker to improve upon his four goals and four assists from last time out, but it’s worth remembering that he is only 19, and can definitely get better with more minutes under his belt.

Those minutes would definitely arrive in the Championship next season, and he should improve his figures given how the league is of a lower standard than the Premier League.

A £15million fee would, of course, be welcomed by the powers that be at Leeds, but they could double that value and then some if Gnonto has a strong season next time out.

And in the midst of his future, it is important to note that Leeds have already lost several players upon their relegation from the top flight, with the likes of Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo, with more to follow.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been handed a financial windfall as £121million FIFA news emerges.
