Leeds United must end woeful three-year record vs Tottenham after Premier League reveal

Leeds United play host to Tottenham this Saturday.

Leeds have enjoyed a solid start to life back in the Premier League, and will look to continue that this weekend when Tottenham make the trip to Elland Road.

Leeds secured a valuable point against Bournemouth last time out, while Spurs were held to a disappointing draw against bottom-placed Wolves, relying on a last-minute equaliser.

However, after the latest Premier League reveal, the advantage may still be with Tottenham unless the Whites can put an end to a record that has lasted since August 2022.

Leeds United vs Tottenham is Saturday’s early kick-off

Leeds fans will be all too familiar with games being moved for TV coverage, having spent a large portion of the last campaign with similar fate.

While that has issues in itself when it comes to travel arrangements and plans, the timing of Saturday’s encounter with Tottenham is particularly concerning.

With the game due to kick-off at 12:30pm, BBC Sport have revealed that Leeds have failed to win their last 11 early kick-offs in the Premier League.

Their last win in that scenario was back in August 2022, when the Whites secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Chelsea.

Nine of the 11 have ended in defeat, with two ending in a draw, with the most recent early kick-off in the Premier League resulting in Leeds’ 2-2 draw with Newcastle back in 2023.

Daniel Farke can prevent Tottenham from making history

Tottenham have never won three away encounters against Leeds in a row, though having won the previous two at Elland Road, they could do that this weekend.

With that said, Leeds have shown this season that they cannot be underestimated, having already secured some impressive and unexpected results.

However, if that is to happen again this weekend, Daniel Farke needs to ensure his defence is water-tight from the first minute to the last, having conceded a last-minute goal in each of their last two Premier League games.

The Whites have players to cause problems for Spurs, but they need to make sure that Tottenham’s dangermen are nullified throughout the clash.
