Leeds United may have to surrender to German giants in race to sign Armando Broja

Leeds United never like to concede defeat but they are going to be up against it to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja after the latest report on him.

TEAMtalk reported the Whites’ interest in the 20-year-old who is making a name for himself on loan at Southampton this season, scoring six goals in the league for the Saints.

The latest update from The Sun however suggests that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for the Albanian.

Chelsea made sure to tie him down to a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge before he was sent to the South Coast for the season but he could look to leave the Blues if he doesn’t start getting game time next season.

He would be exactly what Marcelo Bielsa is looking for in a striker with his powerful running and lethal finishing seeing him standout this season.

Bayern and Dortmund’s interest in Broja certainly makes things a lot more difficult though and it looks to be an uphill battle if the Whites want to bring him to Elland Road.

It might be best to take a back seat in this particular hunt and look towards other striker targets if they want to bring one in next summer.

You could argue though that they don’t actually need another striker as that would only reduce first-team chances for Joe Gelhardt.

The teenager has impressed in his limited opportunities in a Leeds shirt so far and he could be the answer to Bielsa’s Patrick Bamford-less side.

They also have Max Dean, Sam Greenwood and Archie Gray waiting in the wings to take on senior football as well as the more experienced Rodrigo or Tyler Roberts who can fill the void up front in the absence of Bamford.

In other Leeds United news, £10million could be the price Valencia need to pay to get this Whites winger in the summer.
