Leeds United may have found Kalvin Phillips transfer solution after new Archie Gray update
Leeds United will still have one eye on Premier League football next season, despite slipping out of the automatic promotion places with their defeat to Coventry.
Daniel Farke’s side was well beaten at the CBS Arena on Saturday (6 April) with Joel Piroe’s second-half strike little more than a consolation as the Sky Blues ran out 2-1 winners to dent the Whites’ promotion hopes.
While there is still plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the season, most pundits and journalists still expect Farke’s side to be in the top flight next season, one way or another.
However, one man could not be making that step up with the rest of his teammates at Elland Road, with reports suggesting Borussia Dortmund are keen to bring Archie Gray to the Bundesliga in the summer transfer window [Alan Nixon, 7 April].
Will Archie Gray leave Leeds United in the summer transfer window?
The Bundesliga giants join the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Liverpool in monitoring the teenager who has shone at Elland Road this season and it feels increasingly likely he could leave Leeds this summer.
While that will be a massive blow for the Whites, it could provide them with both the impetus and the financial power to get a deal prepared to bring Kalvin Phillips back to Elland Road permanently.
Leeds United are reportedly interested in re-signing the England international following his poor spell at West Ham United but may struggle to afford his wages and the sort of transfer fee Manchester City would be looking for.

However, any sale of Gray would likely earn the Whites more than a pretty penny and given his position as a homegrown player, it would be 100 per cent profit. That fee could be reinvested into signing Phillips.
Other clubs are understood to be considering the former Elland Road star ahead of the end of season so if the Whites do want to secure his signature, they have to begin stepping up their efforts now to have any hope of winning the race.
