Leeds United may have dodged Crysencio Summerville bullet after latest news

Leeds United may have dodged a Crysencio Summerville-sized bullet after what has happened to the Dutchman this season.

In the summer transfer window, the West Yorkshire outfit had a massive clear-out of their star players such as Summerville and brought in plenty of talent to replace them.

However, the sale of Summerville was something that annoyed most Whites fans due to his importance to the team in the 2023/24 season.

The attacker was Leeds’ best player by far and more often than not, he’d be able to carry the team on his back if they weren’t performing to the standards expected of them.

However, since his move to West Ham United, things haven’t gone quite to plan and after the latest news that has emerged about the Dutchman, it feels like Daniel Farke’s men have dodged a bullet.

Crysencio Summerville is out injured for West Ham United again

Since Summerville made the switch to the London Stadium his career has been riddled with injuries which has meant that he hasn’t yet managed to have a decent run of games in the Hammers’ first-team.

The attacker was brought in to try and rejuvenate a dilapidated strike force and add some pace to their attacking ranks.

In the games that he has played in this season, he’s performed fairly well but injuries have hindered his progress.

And, now that Graham Potter has confirmed Summerville is set to be sidelined for West Ham’s next five games, it’s starting to feel like Leeds might have got the better end of the stick.

“The setback was at the back end of his rehab,” said Potter. “He just felt something, which is disappointing.”

Leeds United are in a better place without Crysencio Summerville

While Summerville’s talents are unquestionable, it’s hard to see how at this moment in time Leeds aren’t better off than they were last season.

Dan James and Manor Solomon have both massively stepped up to the plate this season with the former of the two arguably being Leeds’ best player this term.

Summer arrival Largie Ramazani has also played his part when called upon and it feels like the Whites are well on their way to earning Premier League promotion and a top-two finish.

Although Leeds’ place in the top six feels almost guaranteed at the moment, Farke will no doubt want to avoid the playoffs at all costs and at least finish in the top two.

Which, if Summerville was still part of his squad, they might not be able to do due to his lack of availability this season.
