Leeds United likely to make back millions on Jack Harrison after Everton development

Leeds United are braced for an influx of returning players at Elland Road come the end of the season as a number of players return from loan spells away.

For several of those stars, it seems likely that they will leave Yorkshire permanently in the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting Marc Roca and Max Wober appear set to end their time with the Whites.

However, for others, it remains unclear whether their clubs will make their switch permanent. That’s been the case with Jack Harrison for large parts of the season as uncertainty at Everton has put the breaks on discussions over a summer transfer.

The Toffees were unlikely to be able to afford Harrison had they been relegated from the Premier League, however, with their win over Liverpool at Goodison Park on Wednesday (24 April) Sean Dyche’s side has all but dodged the drop.

Will Jack Harrison leave Leeds United for Everton permanently in the summer transfer window?

Harrison played a crucial role in Everton’s win over Jurgen Klopp’s side and former Toffee and Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney was quick to heap praise on the Leeds United loanee for his display.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event (24 April, 20:55) he said: “Harrison, not so much with the ball but the work rate he’s put in trying to double up and help out. He helped get the fans involved and made it into a real derby.”

No player on either side created more chances in the Harrison who carved out five goalscoring opportunities and the Leeds loanee also managed to complete the most dribbles of any outfield player, according to Fotmob.

Defensively he put in an immense shift as well, winning 11 duels both in the air and on the ground as he stopped Liverpool’s wingers and full-backs from really getting a handle on the game.

While one good display won’t make Leeds buy the 27-year-old permanently this summer, Harrison’s superb performance partnered with Everton’s likely survival in the Premier League could force a deal over the line.

Harrison reportedly has a £20million release clause in his contract, but that can only be triggered if Daniel Farke’s side misses out on promotion this season [TEAMtalk, 7 February].

Regardless of what happens in the final weeks of the season, it feels as though Leeds are set to make back millions by selling the winger this summer as Everton will surely be keen to keep him at Goodison.
