Leeds United learn what to do to sign Roony Bardghji as Barcelona set price

Leeds United could be set to reignite their interest in signing Roony Bardghji.

The last 12 months have seen many transfer links emerge at Elland Road, and some have certainly been more ambitious than the others.

However, MOT Leeds News revealed back in December that the Whites had made contact with Barcelona to try and sign Bardghji on loan after the Swede had suffered from a lack of gametime in Spain.

Not long after, Bardghji has started to find some form, but has again found himself on the fringes of the team under Hansi Flick.

The 20-year-old has been an unused substitute in five of their last 10 games in all competitions, while having played just 116 minutes across the other five games.

And the door has again been opened for an exit.

With Leeds also having been linked with a move to sign Endrick from Real Madrid, it’s clear that they are looking to bring in a promising young talent who already has a solid reputation.

And Bardghji certainly fits that bill, having already made 15 Champions League appearances at the age of 20.

The left-footed winger earned a lot of that reputation from his time with Copenhagen, which earned him his move to Barcelona, which just hasn’t worked out.

But when taking into account the fact that his competition is Lamine Yamal, that hardly comes as a surprise.

A move away could be on the cards in the summer, with a report from Fichajes stating that the Catalan outfit has set a price tag of just £17.4million, which is more or less the same fee that Leeds paid to sign Anton Stach.

What would Bardghji transfer change at Leeds United?

While the first thing to note is that Bardghji would inject a lot of quality into this Leeds side, it would also likely require a tactical shift.

The 20-year-old is a winger by trade, and that position has been underutilised by Daniel Farke this season with the move to a back four.

And while Willy Gnonto has still been afforded time in a wing-back role, that would not suit Bardghji at all, given the lack of defensive prowess in his game.

He has won just two tackles for Barca this season in his 13 LaLiga appearances, while also having won just 17 duels.
