Leeds United: Joe Rodon set for biggest test yet against ‘absolute assassin’ Robert Lewandowski
Leeds United have plenty of players away from Elland Road right now for the current international break.
And remarkably, four Elland Road men are on duty with Wales, with Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Dan James all trying to help their nation reach Euro 2024.
The nation have made the dream start, with Wales beating Finland 4-1 in their play-off semi-final clash on Thursday (21 March).
All four Whites players were involved and indeed played key roles, with Roberts, Rodon and Ampadu playing the entire 90 minutes, while James scored from the bench.
The victory has now set up an exciting meeting with Poland, with the two nations set to go head-to-head in the play-off final on Tuesday (26 March).
Speaking ahead of the match, former Cardiff and Wales striker Robert Earnshaw has waxed lyrical over Poland’s star man Robert Lewandowski.
“The number one player Robert Lewandowski, as a forward player, is somebody I admire,” Earnshaw said on BBC Radio 5 Live, as quoted by BBC Sport. “He’s so good, it’s ridiculous. He’s an absolute assassin in front of the goal.”
Leeds United ace Joe Rodon set for toughest test of his season so far
The Barcelona star played as Poland beat Estonia 5-1 in their semi-final play-off, and looks certain to play a central role once more against Wales.
It means a battle between the striker and Leeds ace Rodon can be expected, with the Elland Road star having played in the centre of defence against Finland.

And while the Tottenham Hotspur loanee has faced tough opposition in the Championship this season, it will be nothing compared to the threat of Lewandowski, especially with a Euro 2024 place up for grabs for the veteran striker and his nation.
In other Leeds United news, Wilfried Gnonto will be fuming after an official announcement was made recently.
