MOT View: Forgotten Leeds man could have given Bielsa something to think about with goal
Leeds United forward Jay Roy-Grot has become somewhat of a forgotten man at Elland Road.
The Dutch colossus is currently on loan in the Eredivisie with Vitesse, and he doesn’t stand much chance of making it for the Whites in West Yorkshire.
Grot only actually made one start for Leeds in his 20 appearances and may have given Marcelo Bielsa something to think about this weekend.
The 21-year-old scored a wonder solo goal against FC Twente, picking up the ball around halfway and dribbling past numerous defenders before smashing home.
Grot is still under contract at the club, and it is highly unlikely that he may cement a spot in Bielsa’s squad, but many fans reacted with great joy to his goal that he shared on his personal Twitter account.
It was a great goal and that power and pace is something that could definitely be useful in the final third, but it feels like his opportunity could have come and gone already.
Bielsa will be pleased with this latest footage, but when you delve into his stats they aren’t heavily impressive.
The 21-year-old has featured 22 times in the Dutch league this season and has only been involved in three goals and that is nowhere near good enough.
People question the prolific nature of Patrick Bamford, but even he has 13 goals this season and Grot stands little to no chance of replacing him in the Championship, never mind the Premier League.
Although a permanent exit will be on the cards, Bielsa will have been given something small to think about if he views this footage.
