Leeds United have surely made Josuha Guilavogui decision after transfer news

Leeds United have enjoyed a strong first half to the season as they look to return to the Premier League next term.

The Whites currently occupy an automatic promotion spot as they sit second in the league, three points away from Sheffield United in top spot.

Daniel Farke will have to make the right additions to his squad in the January transfer window to ensure they finish the campaign on a high and achieve their aims.

The German has kept his cards close to his chest surrounding additions as he isn’t keen to rock the boat but there will need to be some incomings with plenty of football still to be played.

The Sun on Sunday [15 December, page 53] reported that the West Yorkshire outfit are keen on a transfer move for Dario Essugo after failing to acquire his services in the summer and are prepared to strike a loan-to-buy agreement to make it happen.

Dario Essugo arrival could spell trouble for Josuha Guilavogui

The 19-year-old would be a strong addition to the squad at Elland Road and Sporting CP would surely be willing to cut his loan at Las Palmas short as they struggle in La Liga.

However, the move could mean that Guilavogui finds his future looking quite unsure.

The 34-year-old has made just six appearances since joining as emergency free agent in October after injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, with no appearances in the starting line-up under his belt and while he is an important man behind the scenes, failing to be a contributor on the pitch is not what any footballer wants.

Furthermore, the midfielder sees his contract at Elland Road expire at the end of the season and with a full complement of players plus the potential addition of Essugo it is hard to imagine a new deal being put forward.

With the Whites looking towards the future with their sights set firmly on the Premier League, this signing would provide a long-term option for Farke as they progress.

Meanwhile, Guilavogui will surely take this as a sign that he is into the final months of his time with Leeds United.
