Leeds United have chance to do something really funny to Sheffield United for £20m
Leeds United can get one over on rivals Sheffield United with an audacious transfer swoop for Manchester City’s James McAtee.
The 22-year-old made 75 appearances for the Blades across two seasons on loan at Bramall Lane, scoring 14 goals and notching eight assists.
The Whites have been linked with a move for the English midfielder by Caught Offside. However, it is understood that he could cost around £20million.
James McAtee would bring new dimension to Leeds United
Leeds currently sit in third place in the Championship, just two points behind leaders Sunderland.
They are looking to avoid a repeat of last season where the club finished third and missed out on automatic promotion despite reaching 90 points across 46 matches.
McAtee has not featured regularly this season, starting just three times for Pep Guardiola’s team in the EFL Cup and Community Shield after Leeds attempted to bring him to Elland Road in the summer.

The former Bramall Lane star would compete for a place in the starting XI with Brenden Aaronson, who has started the season very well, scoring four goals in 15 league games.
However, the Englishman is a better player than the American and would likely eclipse those numbers and power Leeds into the automatic promotion spots.
The club returns to action with a trip to Swansea on Sunday 24 November where Aaronson will be looking to prove that the club does not need another attacking midfielder on the books with the reported interest in McAtee.
