Leeds United have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transfer green light after latest admission

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the market for Leeds United after leaving Besiktas in the summer.

The 32-year-old won the Champions League and Premier League with Liverpool before moving to Turkiye in 2023.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move to Elland Road, and it looks like the Whites now have the opportunity to sign him on a bargain transfer.

Josuha Guilavogui became sort of a cult hero under Daniel Farke last season, and the German manager may opt to pull off a similar deal to add experience to his squad soon.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants England return amid Leeds United transfer links

Oxlade-Chamberlain prefers to play in England after his experience abroad with Besiktas.

The English midfielder’s contract with the Super Lig outfit was terminated a year early, following his two seasons in Istanbul.

Due to family concerns, the former Arsenal star now wants to play in English football and is waiting for the right offer to arrive, leaving the door open for possible conversations at Elland Road.

Speaking on Ben Foster’s Fozcast on 6 November, he said: “Yeah, [I’ve received offers], but the majority of them have been from Europe, away from home, and for me, I did two years away, which I found on a family level. I was going six or eight weeks without seeing my son, my misses, mom and dad.”

The Premier League winner added: “That was difficult. So I knew I didn’t want to do that. I want to be back in England. And it’s just waiting for the right thing to pop up back here or close enough that makes sense for a family thing.”

Farke could potentially have signed Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer, with the West Yorkshire outfit making an offer, but it remains to be seen whether they will make another approach in the coming weeks.

Daniel Farke has other transfer priority at Elland Road

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been unreliable at Elland Road, prompting questions among fans about the need for a new number nine.

Farke has trusted the former Everton striker over Joel Piroe, but he’s scored just one goal in eight Premier League appearances for Leeds.

The German manager has some impressive talent in the middle of the park with Sean Longstaff, Anton Stach, Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka, making a potential move for Oxlade-Chamberlain unnecessary.

Paraag Marathe and 49ers Enterprises should prioritise signing an attacking threat to give Farke a better chance of surviving immediate relegation to the Championship.
