Leeds United handed early boost for Blackburn Rovers clash as Championship news emerges

Leeds United will be keen to extend their strong run of form when they travel to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (9 December).

The Whites head to Ewood Park currently sitting third in the Championship table, with their opponents in seventh place.

It remains to be seen exactly which players will be available for both clubs, with injuries and fitness playing a huge part in this current busy period.

But Daniel Farke and his side have already been handed a huge boost in the early stages of the build-up to the match.

In comes through the upcoming absence of Blackburn manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, who has been given a one-match touchline ban for misconduct during his club’s match at Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday (2 December), as reported by BBC Sport (6 December).

The boss was shown a red card during the match for protesting in the aftermath of Marvin Johnson’s goal, which put the Owls 2-1 ahead with just over 10 minutes left.

Leeds United

Josh Windass added a third for the home side to secure a 3-1 victory and all three points in the Championship encounter at Hillsborough.

Rovers were already facing an uphill battle against the Whites given their recent form under Farke, but that task has been made much more difficult now due to Tomasson’s ban.

The manager has also been fined £2,000 by the Football Association after admitting to acting in an improper manner and “using abusive and/or insulting words to a match official,” as per BBC Sport (6 December).

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to beat Burnley and Leicester City to sign an international ace from a Championship rival.
