Leeds United handed Archie Gray dilemma as Crystal Palace transfer interest emerges

Leeds United really were in a difficult position in the summer transfer window following their relegation from the Premier League.

A long, long list of senior players left Elland Road, presumably to avoid playing in the second division of English football.

Many of those players were midfielders, with Marc Roca, Tyler Adams and Adam Forshaw moving on, either permanently or temporarily, with Weston McKennie also exiting following his loan spell.

Their exits have, however, resulted in the emergence of Archie Gray in Daniel Farke’s midfield, with the youngster hugely impressing so far this season.

At just 17, the teenager boasts nine appearances in all competitions, but it turns out that his displays are not just impressing the powers that be at Elland Road.

As per The Sun (24 September), Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are chasing the midfielder, with the Whites potentially having to cash in on him if they are not promoted back to the Premier League.

It is not a potential transfer that Leeds fans or indeed Farke want to hear about, with the midfielder a key player at Elland Road.

There is, however, the potential for the club to make a huge profit on a player, not only because of his displays, but also because he came through the Leeds academy.

Moreover, Palace should have plenty of money to through at the Championship club, who may not be able to say no if a hefty offer comes in.

In positive news for the Whites, however, they are currently going strong on the pitch, and are now up to sixth in the table following their 3-0 win against Watford on Saturday (23 September), meaning the idea of promotion isn’t a million miles away.

In other Leeds United news, one Whites player has reacted after a Newcastle United ace shared an update following their Champions League draw with AC Milan.
