Leeds United guaranteed promotion if they seal deal for Gustavo Hamer in January transfer swoop
Leeds United need to sign Gustavo Hamer in the January transfer window to help boost their Premier League promotion chances.
The Whites have already shown their interest in the attacking midfielder during the summer transfer window when they had a £13million bid instantly rebuffed by Sheffield United [The Star, 26 August].
One of the key areas Farke wanted to strengthen before the window closed was Leeds’ number 10 role, but a move never came to fruition.
Roland Sallai was another name mooted with a potential move to Elland Road but, much like Hamer, Leeds failed to get a deal over the line.
Former Premier League manager Gus Poyet also shares this verdict and believes that the Brazilian would be a top player for the West Yorkshire outfit and would help boost their promotion charge tenfold.
Gustavo Hamer would be a stellar transfer for Leeds United
Hamer has been on Leeds’ radar for some time now. It was evident in the summer that Farke wanted to bring another attacking midfielder to offer some support for Brenden Aaronson.
The American has held his own within the West Yorkshire outfits side this season, but it’s unlikely that the former RB Salzburg man will be able to keep up this level of form throughout the entire campaign.
Hamer is an ideal candidate for the Whites to try and acquire the services of as his addition would not only ease the burden placed upon Aaronson’s shoulders but would also provide them with another attacking option.
The Brazilian has been one of the best players in the second tier for some time now and he even managed to hold his own in the Premier League on occasion last term.

The former Coventry man’s addition to Farke’s squad would no doubt boost their promotion chances massively and would likely spur the team on towards greater things.
After Chris Wilder’s reaction to Leeds’ initial bid in the summer, however, the West Yorkshire outfit may have to fork out a small fortune to sign him in January.
In other Leeds news, Max Wober has been tipped for a new role within the Whites’ squad upon his return from injury.
