Leeds United find Lucas Radebe 2.0 with new transfer on cards already

Leeds United are monitoring Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau ahead of a possible transfer, according to SNL24.

The South African defender could potentially follow in Lucas Radebe’s footsteps if he makes the switch to Elland Road.

Mudau’s strong showings for the Sundowns have seen him attract attention from several clubs, including Burnley in the Championship.

Leeds United could have the new Lucas Radebe on their hands

Radebe made the switch to Elland Road in the summer of 1994, joining from Kaizer Chiefs at the age of 25.

Mudau would be making his move away from South Africa at a later stage in his career – he turned 29 in April.

That is unusual, given the defender has never played outside of his homeland, racking up 122 appearances for Mamelodi Sundowns since joining the club in 2020.

However, 25 was also a relatively late point at which Radebe finally joined a club in Europe, but he went on to establish himself and made 255 appearances for the Whites across all competitions.

Additionally, Mudau’s potential signing could have a positive knock-on effect on a player who could go on to become a Leeds legend – Archie Gray.

The teenager largely played at right-back during his breakout season, but the addition of Mudau would potentially allow Gray to move into his preferred midfield role.

Should any transfer materialise, Radebe would surely approve.
