Leeds United fans surely in dreamland as Daniel Farke confirms key player will stay at Elland Road
Leeds United travel to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Wednesday night, and Daniel Farke could welcome back one of his first-team stars.
Leeds drew against Manchester United 1-1 on Sunday to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches, the current joint-longest of any top-flight side.
Farke’s men could have secured all three points, too, but Brenden Aaronson’s opener was cancelled out by Matheus Cunha, who capitalised after Lucas Perri made a huge mistake by coming off his line.
Nonetheless, another point at Elland Road saw the Whites move eight points clear of the relegation zone, and ahead of Leeds’ trip to Newcastle, the German boss delivered some positive news.
Daniel Farke confirms Jayden Bogle will stay at Leeds
Jayden Bogle missed Leeds’ clash against Manchester United due to a minor calf issue, with James Justin continuing at wing-back after impressing in the draw at Liverpool.
Bogle has been solid for Farke in 2025/26, continuing the exceptional form that earned him a spot in the 2024/25 Championship Team of the Season.
The 25-year-old has, unsurprisingly, attracted some unwanted transfer interest as a result of his performances, but Farke insisted he’s a Leeds player and that he won’t be going anywhere in January.
“Bogle is our player and will be our player. Not even a topic we have to speak about,” the 51-year-old said in his pre-match press conference.
He also confirmed that one of Bogle or Joe Rodon may return to the squad against Newcastle after completing some individual training.
“Bogle and Rodon doing individual training and not team training. Might have one back for Newcastle squad,” Farke said.
Where Bogle must improve for Leeds
Bogle’s infectious energy and lung-bursting runs down the right were key to Leeds winning promotion to the Premier League, and the Englishman produced 11 goal involvements from defence.
Of course, moving up to the top-flight is a challenge for any player, and while he’s impressed, he would arguably demand more from himself in attack.
Jayden Bogle’s 2025/26 Premier League stats
19 appearances
2 clean sheets
1.1 interceptions per game
4.3 balls recovered per game
2.1 clearances per game
1 assist
Farke gives Bogle the license to attack, and he’s only mustered one assist from his opening 19 appearances, which is certainly an area he can improve his game.
Hopefully, if Leeds continue their ascent up the table, the former Sheffield United man will improve his attacking output.
