Leeds United fans right to fume at Sky after Everton fixture farce
Leeds United’s fixture against Everton in January has been changed for Sky Sports coverage.
The Whites were supposed to travel to Merseyside on 24 January to face the Toffees, and Leeds fans who had plans to go will be fuming.
Leeds are hoping to stay in the Premier League, and the fixture against Everton may have been seen as one of the easier fixtures in a busy winter period – on paper, at least.
Daniel Farke faces an extremely tough run of fixtures coming up and will need Leeds supporters to get behind the team wherever they go.
Unfortunately, the news may now disrupt many fans from making the trip down to back the Whites.
Everton game changed to a Monday night fixture on Sky Sports
Leeds’ game against Everton has now been selected for Sky Sports coverage.
This means the fixture will now be played on 26 January – a Monday night – instead, with an 8pm kick-off time.
| Game | Initial date | New date |
| Everton vs Leeds | Saturday 24 January | Monday 26 January |
The issue is that Sky Sports and the Premier League is clearly so out of touch with what happens on matchdays to the point where they don’t even consider the implications these types of changes have on fans.
Monday night games are always a struggle for travelling supporters to reach, and on top of having to potentially change plans, Leeds fans will have to face the worry of travel, too, on a Monday night after 10pm.
It’s a crying shame that Leeds fans are once again paying the price for inept decisions being made out of their control, and rightly so, they will be fuming.

Leeds don’t like playing Everton away
To add to the misery, the Whites may not have good fortune on their side when they travel away to face the Toffees.
Everton have changed their home stadium this season from Goodison Park to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the Blues fans will still make their changed home a tough place to go.
Leeds’ last three away Premier League fixtures versus Everton:
- 18 Feb 2023: Everton 1-0 Leeds
- 12 Feb 2022: Everton 3-0 Leeds
- 28 Nov 2020: Everton1-0 Leeds
All in all, Sky and the officials at the Premier League have shown their true colours once again.
It’s all about money and what suits them, with many Leeds fans now likely to suffer from the unnecessary change.
Let’s hope that the Whites can still battle through adversity here and take something back to LS11 when the fixture comes round very shortly.
