Leeds United fans might be annoyed by Daniel Farke’s comments after win vs Wolves

Leeds United claimed their second Premier League win of the season with an impressive 3-1 win at Wolves on Saturday.

The Whites fell behind to an early Ladislav Krejci strike at Molineux, but recovered through goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor.

Wolves were favourites to win the match, but it ended up being a relatively comfortable win for Daniel Farke’s men.

Leeds are now on seven points from five games, and the performance may give supporters reason to be quietly optimistic about the season ahead.

However, some of Farke’s post-match comments may rub fans the wrong way.

Daniel Farke suggests Leeds may not enjoy too many away wins this season

The German manager has his doubters, but he’s likely exceeding the expectations of the Leeds fans who wanted Farke sacked before the season started.

He has built a defensively solid team, and their ruthlessness in front of goal against Wolves has alleviated concerns about Leeds’ attack.

Still, his comments after the Wolves match arguably add weight to the argument that he’s not the man to help Leeds thrive in the Premier League.

Speaking to the BBC, he suggested that Leeds might not enjoy too many away wins this season, with that acceptance not welcomed in a fight.

He said: “We’ll definitely value this and we know that it doesn’t come along that often for a newly promoted side – away wins – so for that our supporters should celebrate and enjoy the week, and we’ll stay grounded and keep going.”

Daniel Farke’s comments could affect the mentality of Leeds players

Farke likely made these comments to dampen expectations among the Leeds fanbase and the media after such a bright start to the season.

This is a common tactic used by football managers to protect themselves from extra criticism when their team’s form drops. It’s not the first time that Farke has used it.

However, comments like these can often affect a squad’s mentality.

Leeds’ next away games are at:

If they play as confidently as they did against Wolves, there’s no reason why they cannot win all of these games.

If Farke keeps labelling Leeds as a promoted team who are strugglers in this league, they might start to play like that, no matter how factually true it is.

Why not let the fans revel in their team’s hard-earned victory and dream of climbing up the table this season?

Why not allow the players to believe that they can go to many more Premier League stadiums and win?

This could be more beneficial to the Leeds squad than constantly playing down their credentials.
