Leeds United ex-coach Corberan in advanced talks to quit West Brom
Leeds United could be about to get a boost in their bid to win promotion from the Championship with Carlos Corberan edging closer to quitting West Brom.
The Whites might not consider themselves as direct rivals to the Baggies right now in the Championship promotion race as they’re currently sat second in the league with 45 points.
West Brom, meanwhile, are in seventh and 10 points behind Daniel Farke’s side, who returned to winning ways with a 4-0 thrashing of Oxford United at the weekend.
West Brom release clause set to be triggered for ex-Leeds coach
However, there’s still the possibility that both clubs could meet each other in the play-offs and given Corberan’s impressive streak at The Hawthorns, there’s no doubt that the Baggies would be a harder team to beat without him at the helm.
And it looks like that could be the case when the two sides meet later this season at Elland Road.
According to Spanish radio broadcaster COPE, Valencia are in advanced talks to hire the former Leeds coach as their new manager.
Ruben Baraja was sacked on Monday afternoon (23 August) after a dismal run of results left Valencia 19th in the La Liga standings.

It is understood that Los Ches are now in the final stages of talks to hire Corberan but he does have his release clause at the Black Country club.
There’s no denying that a move from West Brom to Valencia is a step up.
Despite their trouble recent history and current slump in the league, Valencia are one of the biggest clubs in Spain while West Brom look as though they’d be lucky to finish in the Championship play-offs again this season due to their PSR issues.
Either way, if Corberan joins Valencia, it’s a glowing review of how well Marcelo Bielsa did when he took the ex-Huddersfield boss under his wing at Elland Road.
And it’s also a boost for Leeds in the league as one of the best managers in the Championship is likely heading out of the country.
