Leeds ‘to sign three Newcastle stars’ after massive Keith Downie update
Leeds United could be moving closer to sealing their first two summer signings.
Staying up in the Premier League following promotion from the Championship is not an easy task, though it is one that Leeds United need to overcome if they are to keep progressing as a club.
Daniel Farke, despite his own poor Premier League record, will be looking to break the trend of promoted sides, though what Leeds can achieve in the transfer market will have a huge say in that.
Several players have been linked with a move to Elland Road, with the latest update from Tyneside surely serving as a boost for the Whites.

Sky Sports issue update on Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson
The signing of a new striker and goalkeeper will be the priority for Leeds, though they will undoubtedly be looking to add more quality across all areas of the squad.
In terms of striker targets, Callum Wilson has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds, and his exit from Newcastle looks likely.
Wilson | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
---|---|---|---|
Bournemouth | 187 | 67 | 28 |
Newcastle | 130 | 49 | 11 |
Coventry | 55 | 23 | 7 |
Kettering | 17 | 1 | 0 |
Tamworth | 3 | 1 | 2 |
However, Keith Downie, via a Q&A on Sky Sports, claims that Matt Targett and Sean Longstaff could also depart St James Park this summer.
Targett was linked with a move to Leeds in the winter, and with question marks over the future of Junior Firpo, a cut-price deal for him may make sense.
As for Longstaff, his addition at Elland Road would bolster the quality of their midfield massively, and could again be available for a reasonable price.

Farke needs the tools to thrive in Premier League
Leeds have an excellent squad, but an excellent squad in the Championship is still miles away from a side capable of competing in the Premier League.
Experience is often the difference maker, and Leeds will need to recruit players who know what it takes to survive in the top flight, with all three of the linked Newcastle stars fitting that bill.
It will be crucial that the Whites get the big decisions right this summer, or else they will be in for a long, long season.
